Gabriella's new parents weren't exactly the type you'd expect to take in a baby left at their door in the middle of the night. Friendly but uncultured people, their "hick" aura generally drove people away. That didn't stop someone from doing it, of course - one morning, the Smiths woke up to a screaming little hispanic baby on the doorstep of their mobile home, covered in blankets with a note reading only "Gabriella".

They cared for this strange baby just as well as they did their own children, though their parental skills were far from perfect. She was turning out to be normal child, in their opinion... up until age 8, when she nearly burned down the trailer park. Her destructive tendencies had never been shown so obviously before, and they now terrified her poor parents. They found free therapy on account of their income, and have been sending her to it ever since... to no real avail.
