history:
Phillip grew up Phillippe Limon in an average family in France. He moved to the US after college and quickly became a figure in political science as he completed his graduate and a couple of doctorate degrees. He soon specialized in analyzing documents in order to understand relationships between governments and other organizations and wrote several papers.
In America, he finds a gift for languages as well as politics and soon speaks English without an accent as well as being respectably fluent in the romance languages and a couple others.
Unfortunately, he never really learned where not to dig. He soon found some connections between some criminal organizations (including Red Moon Group), some large corporations, and some governments that any of said groups would not really like to get out. Excited, he prepares to publish.
Then his girlfriend, Annette, is shot outside their apartment. He flees to the US and changes his name. He has yet to sell the diamond ring he'd been keeping for her birthday.
Eventually, Phillip Cook ends up in Plethora, just another professor, after nearly 20 years of relative peace. His students mostly agree that he's a good teacher. The serious students like his way of explaining things. The goof-offs like that he's easily distractable.
