appearance:
Nathan is slim and somewhat small for his age, standing at 5'5''. He is covered in scars, injuries, and stitches, and quite often wearing bandages or even a cast. His dark, dirty blonde hair is styled in an unkempt typical traditional boy's cut, down to the tops of the ears. Youthful, boyish features are usually drawn up in a vulpine smirk, his striking pale blue eyes sparkling with mischief. However, if caught in a relaxed state, such as in sleep, his face sports a much more gentle expression, almost angelic. Both ears are pierced in multiple changing locations, due to his tendency to let them heal so he can get repierced.

history:
Nathan's mother, Natalia, was your classic Ukrainian mail-order bride, wedded to a well-off but dull and unexciting real estate agent. They weren't crappy parents, really, just kind of distant. Safe in his little suburban world, he never had to worry about whether or not he'd get dinner, if his dad would come home drunk after gambling, or anything like that. His mom would even sing old lullabys from her homeland when he was young and had come crying to her in fear of some bump in the night. However, when Nathan was nine, she decided she was sick of her life with Mr. Caldwell, and filed for a divorce. The house was filled with tension and shouting for months over the split of the estate, but there was no custody battle. Natalia just left with as much money she could suck out of her ex-husband through the court system, never to even call her son again.
The kid didn't take it well. He seemed alright, sure. Smiling and everything, mostly acting like a normal boy. But he was developing a habit. By the age of eleven, Nathan was getting hurt so often that at any given time he would be bruised or bleeding. His old family practitioner had recently retired, replaced by Elijah Carson. At the first checkup, the doctor suspected abuse. It wasn't until Nathan was getting his shots that the truth became clear: he was addicted to pain. The adrenaline of shock and anticipation, the dopamine rushing through his body, the high created by the chemical catalyst of anguish sparked euphoria in the young boy. When the needle began to enter his flesh, he wasn't watching with fear, as most kids do. He was transfixed with excitement.
Nathan's father had become aware of the problem, but was spineless and non-confrontational, and soon fell into a pattern of subtle neglect. His son, meanwhile, had grown increadibly attached to the Dr. Carson, refusing to go to the emergency room in favor of a suprise visit to his favorite doctor. Allowed to do basically whatever he wanted, Nathan continued with his self-medicating hobbie. Once he hit puberty, his addiction had taken a new form. His hormonal mind began to sexualize his masochistic tendencies, giving him intense pleasure from pain. He became bold and obscene, and developed a frightening lust for Elijah, continuously flirting with the poor man for every stitch and shot. He was eventually kicked out of St. Lucia's for his disturbing behaviour. Too bad, he'd miss coporal punishment. Jefferson gave him some good oppurtunies, though. After hearing about Azulus, he recently joined to get a taste of the gang's infamously excrutiating initiation ceremony.

notes:
Nathan is constantly changing dentists. Your guess as to why.
Trained himself to be ambidextrous (due to necessity) and calls Elijah "Elly"
