[CODY & YE, BITCHES.] Multiple dead bodies were strewn throughout the room. Each was surrounded by small groups of young adults, armed with surgical knives. Cody backed away from the scene in horror, drawing a look of amusement from his dissection partners.
"You squeamish?" one asked, smiling smugly as if she did this sort of thing everyday.
He gulped. "A-a little."
She laughed and looked back at the others. "I think Cody should make the first cut, guys."
"NO!" He blurted, drawing another laugh from the girl - the rest of the group looked at him in confusion. With panic settling in his gut, he looked desperately around the room for help.

Ye, noticing the flustered redhead, set down his latest issue of the New England Journal of Medicine. Slipping on a fresh pair of vinyl gloves, he paced over to the distraught young man, eyes filled with a gentle mirth.
"Don't mind the others. I was so nervous with my first cadaver, I nearly vomited. It's quite common. Natural psychological response." Ye quipped in his slightly accented voice, flashing a quick smile at Cody before pulling up his surgical mask. Picking up a scalpel, he made a textbook midline incision in the lifeless abdomen. Layers of ectodermal tissue and subcutaneous fat lay open, exposing fascia-covered muscle to the shamefully curious eyes of surrounding students.
"Would you like me to guide you through a transverse? It's very simple." He offered with the kindest of intentions.

The group watched silently with a hint of embarrassment as the teacher's assistant cleanly cut their corpse down the middle. Would the teacher count them down for this? The girl drew back into the safety of the group, cheeks reddened.
Cody closed his eyes after a quick peek at the exposed, striated muscle, suddenly regretting that he ate breakfast this morning. He had hoped this would be like Anatomy in high school was - talk a lot about bones, then dissect a pig or something. "I... d-don't think I should be in this class." he said quietly, moving a gloved hand to his stomach. "But thank you."

Ye laid down his tools and removed his mask, revealing an expression of slight disappointment. He had a tendency to blame himself when his attempts to offer assistance were unsuccessful, and the regret shone in his eyes as he looked up at the upset young man. "Are you sure? I'd be glad to help if you..." the med student said, cutting himself off as he recognized the signs of nausea.
"Oh... oh my. Come on, let's get you outside." He suggested in a hopefully soothing tone. Peeling off his gloves, he gently placed his hand on Cody's back and led him out into the hallway.
"Are you diabetic? Any allergies? Have you had a change in urination or sleeping habits? Perhaps a history of anxiety?" Ye calmly questioned as he checked Cody's temperature and heart rate, behaving as any true medical practitioner should. However, the tiniest quiver is his voice gave evidence of something lying under the halcyon exterior, hidden beneath layers of rigid professionalism and clinical serenity.

Cody allowed himself to be whisked into the hallway with little resistance, wondering vaguely if this teacher's assistant actually had any real medical training. He quickly got his answer as the older man began checking his vitals. On further examination, the man was rather attractive - nice facial features, long hair --
He let out a breath, pushing those thoughts aside quickly. Stop that shit. It was a firm reminder the redhead found himself repeating more often than he'd like to admit.
"No, not really, no...." Cody listed off, stopping at the last one. "I g-guess a bit of the last. But nothing real serious." A white lie, as far as he was concerned - he had occasionally had problems when he was preforming, but that seemed irrelevant to the current situation, and far in the past besides. The smallest note in the almost-doctor's voice made him shift his pose awkwardly. "I'm just squeamish, I think."

Catching himself, Ye drew back bashfully to regain his composure. Working to erase all traces of anxiety from his mind, he assessed his behavior. He had overreacted. It was uncommon for the carefully disciplined med student to lose control in public. At least, it had been for a while now. But a certain date was drawing near, and he had been noticeably on edge.
"Excuse me. Wait here, I'll get you something to drink." He said in a placid tone, walking off to return with a crystalline glass of water and a soft smile. He handed Cody the cool liquid before sitting down to rest next to the other man.
"Would you like to tell me a bit about yourself? Your name, perhaps?" He laughed blithely, casting a hesitant glance at the man beside him. "Mine is Ye."

Cody slid to the floor while he waited for the man to come back, ruffling his hair with his hand to cool it off. When he returned, he accepted the drink with a small smile. "Thanks." The whole situation was mildly embarrassing, but he felt too queasy to think it through.
"I'm Cody." He replied after a few sips of water, careful to avoid his last name - he hated being recognized as "that violin kid," no matter how rarely it actually occurred. "It's nice to meet you."
Realizing Ye had probably expected more from him, he fidgetted and continued. "I'm k-kind of new here, you could say... N-not really sure what I'm doing, really..."
